I teach at Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock in California. Our school has a Magnet program and is an IB school. This means that aside from the students who come from the immediate neighborhood, there are other students from other parts of the city attending our school for either the IB or Magnet program. The skills of the students in my 8th and 9th grade ELA classes vary widely. I have some high performing students who love to read and need to be fed new books constantly, and I have students who struggle with reading more than a few pages at a time. The school community as a whole is very open and welcoming. There are tons of student groups and an overall good feeling on campus. I love knowing that every project fulfilled here will impact my students and community directly.
