We are a 6th-12th grade charter school with the mission of preparing first generation college students for admission to and success in a 4-year university. To that extent we also expect our graduates to be Good Global Citizens who 1) accept responsibility for their choices, 2) understand and appreciate the rights and duties of citizenship, 3) assume leadership roles, 4) actively work to preserve the environment, and 5) apply what they have learned beyond their time in school. During the 2012-2013 school year, for the first time we sent a delegation of six 9th graders to the San Diego area Junior Model United Nations conference. This was an amazing opportunity for students to authentically demonstrate their understanding of problems and issues that challenge the international community. Participants represent UN countries, discuss world issues, and collaborate to propose solutions to real-world problems.
