My students come from economically depressed families that are mostly second language learners struggling to do well in school. I want to give them an opportunity to read a good book for pleasure and at the same time, work with them on decoding, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency skills. This will in turn help them to be more successful in the classroom with all core subject areas. We are a small school K - 8, located out in the country away from town, with economic challenges of our own. My resources as a teacher are very limited as well and I do what I can from my own pocket to help them but it is difficult to do so all of the time. I want to see them succeed and will go out of my way to do so. I truly believe this Lunch Time Book Bunch will be something fun that they will enjoy and learn from as well.
