These tablets will allow my students the ability to access resources that are unavailable to them outside of school hours. My students come from, largely, low income household. This, unfortunately, means that many do not have access to the same technological resources as their peers in different schools. Currently, in my classroom, we have one computer that rarely works. My students deserve to have the same wealth of resources that many of their peers experience. With these tablets, my students will have even more motivation to be life-long readers! Studies have shown that students perform better when they have to ability to choose how, and where, they learn. Reading is a fundamental skill that all students need in order to be successful. I have been using one computer for our read along stories with the class crammed around the screen. With these tablets, my students will have the freedom to read anywhere in the classroom. My students need this technology in order to promote their success in the school. The world is an ever changing landscape, and these students are at the forefront.
