“I never finish books, Mrs. S., but this Poe is legit. Have you READ THIS? It’s sick!” This honest review from my student who was drawn ("against his will," says he) into a graphic novel adaptation of Poe’s stories and poems. He went on to share the book with a friend and they pleaded for more! Graphic novels engage my discouraged readers with great writing and art, building their reading confidence, volume and interest at school and at home. Graphic novels get my struggling readers excited about reading again, building confidence for other genres.
