Math is an important component of the 5th grade curriculum. Students in my class are working to understand fractions, base ten, volume, money and geometry. In this project I requested hands-on math manipulatives. “Money Magnetic Accents” will give my students visual aides as they learn financial literacy. “Giant Magnetic Base Ten Blocks” will give student an effective visual aide that can be demonstrated in whole group and small group. “Giant Magnetic Geometric Shapes” will help my students visualize fractions in real scenarios. “The build and learn volume kit” will give students opportunities to build and measure the volume of shapes in a way that is tangible. All of these materials will promote hands-on learning to promote the development of the whole child.
