The harmonica is an instrument that has helped people cope with difficult situations. The materials requested will make it possible for students to learn how to play the harmonica and give them a tool that will help them cope with things in their lives that are out of their control. Local musicians with similar backgrounds come to the school and give a lesson on how singing the blues helped them deal with hard things in their life. After this lesson, the musicians teach them how to care for their harmonica and how to play some simple songs. As a harmonica player myself, I know how important music can be to help people deal with difficult life experiences. The students in my school, that I have the privilege to teach, come from backgrounds where learning to play a simple instrument would be beneficial.
