I want to acquaint students with a variety of literary genres, thus allowing them to develop a love for reading and become avid readers. I want to equip my students with the skills needed to read, comprehend, analyze and share a variety of texts through their participation in literature circles. Students will become critical thinkers as they read and respond to a variety of literary genres. I hope to improve the percentage of third grade students who meet or exceed in reading comprehension and vocabulary acquisition scores on district/state assessments and move my students towards selecting, reading and discussing texts independently.

About my class
