My Family Consumer Science classes are where students come to express themselves and create something with their own two hands. My students use the STEM principles in almost every aspect of my classes and this project will provide a new opportunity to combine Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. A Cricut Maker will give my students the advantage of new technology along with an easy to use web-based platform that can be used to take their projects to the next level. The Fashion and Design classes will use the maker to create heat transfer designs to embellish t-shirts, leather earrings to accessorize an outfit, and balsa wood to create 3-D room designs and layouts. The Introductory FCS classes will use the Design Space platform to create professional-looking posters for various class projects, apply Heat Transfer Vinyl to sewing projects, and create labels for classroom bins. An investment in this project will continue to provide educational benefits for years to come.
