Flexible seating encourages my students to concentrate on the instruction instead of their need to move. During small group, my students are able to pick what kind of chair they would like to sit on. Currently, the options are ball chairs, wobble stools, and rocking chairs. Allowing my students to move and be comfortable while listening to instruction is my main concern for my students. I also noticed a drastic decline in the behaviors of my students once I introduced the flexible seating. They can almost always focus and make better choices now. The flexible seating that I have selected will offer my students additional choices for their movement needs. The wobble stools will allow my students to rock and have movement at the table, yet still allow them to follow along without distractions. The stools will allow my students that don't want so much movement to be able to be comfortable while learning also. These new flexible seating options will really be an exciting part of the classroom for my students!
