My students love learning with technology! Chromebooks in my classroom would allow my students to have access to technology that is currently not available to them daily. We have a Computer Lab and two Chromebook carts in our school. However, with almost 800 students, access to technology can be extremely limited. I do have two desktop computers we received in 2009 from a grant but, as they have aged, they have become unreliable and don't run newer programs that my students use on a day to day basis. With new technology, students can complete their work with limited frustrations. It may seem silly, but when the dated computers don't work, some of my kiddos tend to focus on that frustrating moment in their day and then have a difficult time moving forward with the remainder of their day. My students would be using the Chromebooks for math and reading skill practice, Google Classroom activities for class assignments, and research for writing compositions and project based learning projects. I think any interaction with updated technology will increase their desire to learn and, in turn become more tech savvy!
