My students struggle with at-home activities due to lack of supplies. Many of our families do not have simple things such as paper and pencils at home. Most of the families do not have books for their children. Our families are eager to engage in their child's education but are embarrassed to admit that they do not have what they need to help. By providing families with a few simple materials, such as crayons, pencil pouches, and pencils, we can build a bridge that links school and home. Bridging that gap will encourage students and help inspire lifelong learners, as well as alleviating some of the stress from the family and the students.
