With the winter chill in full swing, and the holidays fast approaching, we would like to work on a service learning project that will bring warmth and comfort to families at a local shelter. As a grade level, our students would like to make 20+ blankets to donate. We have done this project in the past and it was a HUGE success. The family shelter that received our blankets was incredibly grateful and is hoping for this project to become an annual tradition for our 2nd graders. Community service projects like these will foster a love of giving back. Students will never forget the feeling of creating something beautiful and giving it to someone who truly needs it and appreciates it. It's a wonderful feeling to help, and young children should be given the opportunity to experience that joy.
