Research shows that students who participate in activities involving making and innovation are inquisitive, imaginative and motivated. They want to solve real problems for real people. These are the skills that will open the world for our students here at Gooch Elementary, through a maker space. If your life is split between school and an apartment, and your idea of the most exciting place you can go is Chuck-E-Cheese, we'd better make your school activities as engaging, exciting, and creative as possible. At our school, we have 80% low SES students, 18% Special Education students, and 20% Talented and Gifted students. Housed in the library, our new Maker Space Fully Loaded Mobile Project Cart will reach many of our students. We will be hosting a Maker Space afterschool club, as well as Maker Space time for various classrooms in the library. There are so many needs, but with your help we can give a sense of mastery, excitement and creativity to students from all of these groups.
