As a self-contained teacher, my classroom is often quiet. Circle time, small groups, breakfast, lunch and recess are times when I typically hear myself talk. Most of the students in my class show a desire to communicate by their families, and our school system lacks the resources to be able to provide them a voice in my classroom. With these iPads I will be giving my students a way to communicate their wants, needs, thoughts, and opinions. There are multiple apps out there for students with disabilities to allow them to communicate with teachers, peers, and parents. For parents, this may be one of the first times they "hear" from their children! The iPads and cases I have selected will allow us much storage area for multiple communication apps, as well as keep our devices safe and sound from the wear of preschool children. There is nothing more powerful that the opportunity of communication with your students and children. I believe the beginning of a successful education begins with giving these kids a voice!
