The board games and social emotional games will give my students the opportunity to learn how to communicate effectively, take turns, and learn how to interact with other people. The fidget toys, liquid motion bubblers, and the slime will help students calm down in situations that are frustrating, emotional, and uncomfortable. Allowing my students to be kids when they come to school is a huge priority. Many do not play games at home because they are responsible for taking care of younger siblings or other family members. Candyland and Chutes and Ladders will allow some of my students to experience playing a game and having fun without worrying about anyone else. Having these resources will give my students strategies to help flip their brains when they are angry, sad, confused, or frustrated. They will be able to redirect themselves and focus on their classwork. The games will teach them how to interact with others in a positive manner. They will also learn some coping skills and better ways to communicate.
