See that photo? Let's take the room from drab to FAB! My 6th grade students are entering middle school for the first time - this can be a daunting experience. I'd like the flip the script and make my classroom (a place my students will be twice a day) an experience they can look forward to! WOBBLE chairs allow those fidgets to flow through and out, rather than trying to fight and contain them, and pub height bistro sets will provide more space and separation for students who prefer to work independently. Building a reading nook will foster and encourage choice reading, but they need the comfort of rugs, cushions, and pillows to enjoy their time there! Plus, the addition of lap trays will make our reading nook multi-purpose: students can even write and use their laptops in this area! The research shows that flexible seating encourages attendance, reduces discipline referrals, and improves classroom management - all of which directly contribute to student learning and success!
