Most of my cheerleaders come from a single-parent home. They sometimes don't have enough food at home. So to ask them to buy shoes is impossible. We also have to do a competition for our school district. It is mandatory. It has been a hard last 3 years for the cheerleaders. They have had 2 coaches to leave in the middle of the year. The last coach took the money that the district pays you for being a coach and left, and I started in January of last year. I was not paid. I do it because I see how it really helps these girls with their self esteem. I truly care about my girls and I want them to feel and look like they can compete with the best.
