Our school is an urban, Title 1 school, with a larger percentage of students receiving free or reduced meals. The students for whom the flash drives are requested have been selected as part of a Media Academy, in which they will use project- and technology-based learning to access a highly rigorous curriculum. Our goal is that by the end of their senior year, they are prepare to enter the collegiate or professional realms, and this requires some organizational skills that include being able to store, organize and immediately access digital files of their work. The flash drives will be issued to students, and will be used for all of their content classes, and will be the central device on which they save the work they compile for a digital portfolio of their progress.
