This particular project will benefit approximately 120 fifth and sixth graders as they engage in a Poetry Unit in the Murphy Library. Students will be collecting poems they like from other poets, writing their own poetry, and creating an anthology of the pieces to display in the library. Because our school budget will not even allow for purchasing blank copy paper this year for teachers, we need to buy journals on our own to create our anthologies, as well as scrapbooking materials to decorate our anthologies. Each child will need a blank book of their own, while other materials will be shared by four classes.
