Having adaptable seating allow choices for the students. They can choose which seat is agreeable to their learning needs and styles. Students need a multitude of accommodations throughout the day in order to be productive. At 11 years old, even when paying attention, their bodies are used to constant movement.
A working printer in a classroom is invaluable. I currently have 5 laptops available for 30 students, sometimes 32. While conducting research, it has proven difficult for students to research, read, take meaningful notes, and cite sources in the time allotted. Having a working printer would allow them to have a hard copy of all their research on hand. This would allow them the leisure of reading at their own pace, and time to look up unfamiliar words and take notes. I believe it would foster their independence and productivity.
