Most of our students will be the first in their family to go to college, are foster youth or homeless, and/or come from low-income backgrounds. Many cannot afford to buy items for their dorm room or pay for school supplies. We will provide gift baskets at our event to our students and hope to give away a mini-fridge, tablet, and printer. These are items that are extremely important for college success. The invitation cards, envelopes, balloons, and other decor items will be used to throw a spectacular event for our students. Your donation and partnership with us would greatly enrich the growing college culture of our high school and substantiate the possibility of higher education. The donations to this project will provide our students the necessary tools needed to successfully attend and graduate from college. Our students are very diverse, respectful, and have great dreams for their future. More than 70% of our students get free/reduced lunch and face many barriers to achieving academic success. They live in high crime neighborhoods, take care of their younger siblings, work part-time while going to school, and/or don't have enough money to pay for basic necessities such as clothing, food, and rent. Despite all of these obstacles, they work hard to make a commitment to higher education and making a difference in their communities. Your generous donation to our project will substantiate the possibility of higher education.
