I am a reading specialist at a Title I school in a low-income community. I work with students who need additional support to develop the reading skills and confidence they need to become successful, independent readers. Throughout the school year, approximately 100 students will have access to these materials as they participate in Tier 3 reading intervention with me. These students receive intensive, targeted literacy instruction and benefit from frequent opportunities to practice important reading skills in ways that are engaging, encouraging, and accessible. My students are bright, curious, and eager to learn. However, many have experienced difficulty with reading and may become frustrated when a text feels too challenging. I want to provide them with opportunities to experience success with books and stories while continuing to strengthen the foundational skills they need.
