Having a variety of age-appropriate books readily available has allowed students to explore stories at their own pace, choose books that interest them, and develop a love of reading from an early age. I've noticed that students are more confident in handling books, recognizing letters and words, and engaging in conversations about the stories they read. The library has also become a central tool for small group instruction, helping me tailor reading activities to each child's developmental level while fostering peer interaction and social-emotional growth.\r\n\r\nThe addition of the Yoto device has further enhanced our literacy environment. Students are able to listen to stories independently or in small groups, which supports listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and auditory learning. For many students who struggle with reading fluency or attention, Yoto provides a multisensory approach that keeps them engaged and allows them to experience stories even when they are not yet ready to read independently. It has also been a powerful tool for building routines around reading, quiet time, and follow-up discussion, further embedding literacy skills into daily classroom life.","fullyFundedDate":1733181598416,"projectUrl":"project/raising-superstar-readers/8599303/","projectTitle":"Raising Superstar Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9619646_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761179990676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619646"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2479","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":557,"numTeachers":51,"percentFrplEligible":88,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":67,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.3,"schoolId":2479,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Siler City Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Siler City Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/chatham-county-school-district/siler-city-elementary-school/2479"}
