My students are learning math skills that will set the foundation for all their future learning. They learn best through hands on experiences, and constant practice. The materials I am asking for will give them the opportunity to build an understanding of these crucial math skills. Having hands on materials will help my students become amazing mathematicians, despite the language and socioeconomic challenges they face daily. The linking cubes, ten frames and counters will help my students with counting, addition, and subtraction skills. Base ten blocks will allow my students to manipulate place value and build a foundation for higher level addition and subtraction problems. The money will allow them to count and represent money in a concrete way, and the clocks will help them to see the relationships between analog and digital clocks. The whiteboards and markers will give my students the opportunity to work through problems as I quickly assess their learning. My students come into my classroom with a smile each day, despite the struggles they face at home and at school. They are so eager to learn, and I love watching them grow and develop into little mathematicians each day. They will be so grateful for the opportunities these materials will give them to further their learning!
