The different games and supplies will be used by my students in Morning Choice. Playing games in groups will foster team building, and also encourage social interaction among peers. Instead of just sitting in the gym in the mornings, they will be able to come to the classroom and bond with each other in an educational and creative way. Lego blocks and other building games/supplies will hopefully foster more interest in STEM. The students will also build on organizational skills and cooperation because they will be responsible for cleaning up their areas and storage of games and supplies after daily use. LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick, K’NEX Deluxe Building Set, and EverEarth Natural Wood Blocks are three of the most expensive games/supplies on my wish list for my students. In addition to fostering team building and encouraging interaction among peers, these building games will also enhance inquiry learning for students. Every student at our school is a Global IB (International Baccalaureate) learner. The IB learner profiles that will be reinforced with the use of these building games during Morning Choice will be: inquirers, thinkers, problem solvers, and communicators. The inspiration that students can gain from the use of these games is immeasurable. The foundation for future engineers, architects, graphic designers, and so on starts out this way, with imagination and creativity.
