The literacy component in our classroom consists of learning the alphabet along with letter sounds, reading and comprehension, expanding vocabulary. In order to expand and enhance our children's vocabulary, we must first have the necessary tools and resources. Books that are filled with rich vocabulary, illustration, various genres and essential life skill are vital. Literacy and Math are a two core content areas that are imperative in early childhood education. Our math component consists of a counting, shapes, colors, making patterns and the list goes on and on. We use a variation of manipulatives such as counters, form shapes and technology equipment to aid in their mathematical growth. The resources needed will provide our classroom with more than enough assistance with a variety of outlets.
