After implementing flexible seating within my classroom for one year, I quickly learned the most popular spots in the room. Two areas we use frequently are the floor space and higher tables. Our current rug is small and not suitable for the amount of wear it gets with a busy classroom. Our higher tables are popular for students because they can stand if they wish, or choose to use a stool. Our current stools are not as sturdy and often make noise. Sturdier stools will make this area safer and quieter! I strongly believe students learn more when they are able to have movement built into their daily routine, and choose which learning spot best suits their individual needs. Therefore, I closely examine how effective our flexible seating arrangement is, make changes if needed, and invite students to share their opinions. The items I requested are those most requested by students also. Thank you for your time and consideration into promoting collaboration through flexible seating in our classroom! We greatly appreciate it!
