Students were inspired by a Ted Talk given by Elora Hardy on Magical Houses, made of bamboo (https://www.ted.com/talks/elora_hardy_magical_houses_made_of_bamboo). Students are researching sustainable design materials and building practices in preparation for building scale models of their houses and other structures. They will need glue, backing board, Bamboo sticks and skewers to do this! Students will design and build scale models of houses, schools, shops, cafes, and even skyscrapers, all made from bamboo! Based on their research they will make proposals for additions to the structures that environmental friendly, or green, that will continue to be sustainable for generations to come. They have recognized that there is a problem in wasteful housing building plans and community design and are looking for ways to create a sustainable village for the future.
