I will use games and literature pieces to teach social-emotional skills to my students through individual counseling, group counseling, and classroom lessons. It is through play that children develop the skills associated with social-emotional learning. By playing the games in this project about emotions, mindfulness, and self esteem students will be able to recognize their feelings, deal effectively with conflict, and exercise self-control. My office is also a place that students come for short breaks throughout the day to refocus their emotions and center their thoughts for learning, stress balls and physical movement like the Socker Bopper will be a student favorite. These items will aid in the success of my students and give them skills to not only be successful in the classroom, but to be successful as members of society. Thank you in advance for assisting me in adequately nurturing my students’ social-emotional growth.
