My students need a rug to provide a comfortable space on the floor for independent reading and small group work. Our current rug is old, stained and worn. It's an uncomfortable place to sit for any length of time. My students need to get out of their desks and move their bodies to engage their brains. A rug would offer my students a space to sprawl out when reading and offer an alternative learning and movement space for instructional time. It would also serve as designated meeting space for our morning meetings and reading aloud. Where would you rather sit to read a book? On a floor with an old commercial carpet, or a brightly decorated padded rug with your very own designated spot? I would love to give my students a more comfortable and welcoming space to grow and learn.
