Flexible seating is something that gives students an ownership in their learning. They feel empowered by the freedom and choice to sit and learn where they are most comfortable. I have a bean bag and a beach chair that my students love to sit in to learn, listen and collaborate. I have approximately 100 students in and out of my room each day. My room is small with huge tables, my students love the flexible seating and beg me to get more. I have seen great things from my students and they are excited each day to choose a place to sit. They have taken ownership of our classroom and have excitedly helped select the flexible seating choices in this project. Flexible seating will add excitement, collaboration, and enthusiasm to the students everyday learning experience by helping them focus, develop responsibility, and enjoy learning. With your donations, my students will be able to sit in a comfortable relaxed environment, work more effectively in small groups, learn in small instructional groups with the teacher, and experience a love of learning. The tall tables and chairs/stools will be used for students to engage in small group collaboration or just sit in a relaxed seating area. The wobble stool will help my students who need the movement to actively engage in daily activities, and the bean bags will add a comfort spot for group collaboration, reading or writing. The floor seat will be for those students who love to find a small out of the way spot to sit that allows them to quietly read, work independently, or just relax as they work away from the crowd.
