My Ceramics classes were so unbelievably quiet today. I handed students a ball of clay and they went right to work. You see, the students in my classes have barely or no experience with clay. I congratulated them because today they made their first clay piece and the students literally started clapping. They were clapping because I was proud of them and they were proud of themselves. Sure, we started out small - pinch pots were on the menu - but they saw what they could do and I saw it too. Unfortunately, with 3 Ceramics classes, our clay supply is already pretty low. I'm hoping I can continue to give them those proud moments and watch them have experiences they may have thought they'd never get.
