I am a Reading Intervention teacher at a low-income public elementary school in Charlottesville, Virginia. I work with students in grades K-5 who are reading below their grade-level benchmarks (for reasons not related to language-learning or special education needs). My job is to close to achievement gap! Many of the students I work with live in poverty. Some are homeless. They benefit from extra, small-group, focused instruction to give them an academic AND confidence boost. My goal is that all readers gain skills needed for reading and develop a love of books along the way.
