Taking advantage of our ideal weather and beautiful campus, students are able to learn beyond the classroom by taking their workspaces outside. The natural light and fresh air are a refreshing change to the confines of the classroom. Giving students an opportunity to work in an outdoor setting enables energetic second graders to move about and recharge their brains! My students are able to focus on their work and are more engaged when able to learn outside as well as inside the classroom. The products that I have selected(lap desks, turf, and umbrellas) will help my students by giving them a clean and comfortable surface to sit on (our natural grass was often wet and muddy), protection from the elements on both sunny and rainy days, and portable surfaces to work at. The long strips of artificial grass allow students to maintain social distancing while working. I have seen how a fresh environment can positively affect my students' work and attitudes and I hope that the additional options will help extend our learning space beyond the classroom!
