My reluctant readers have no idea about the adventures that await them inside a great book. Having a listening center allows them to fall in love with books and reading, for some kids they never thought this could be possible! For other children that struggle with phonics, listening to a book allows them to think deeply about characters and story elements without the phonics getting in the way. They build vocabulary and are able to tackle more difficult text. The bean bags and chairs allow the kids some freedom in the classroom. The kids get to spend all day in their special bean bag or bean bag chair. They can read while laying down and getting cozy.
