Adding the Fairy Tales STEAM Kit will encourage my students to learn through play, challenging themselves as they read through classic fairy tales, building language and literacy skills, creative expression, as well as beginning engineering skills. Adding the stacking flip cards and word building blocks will help my students build vocabulary, comprehension and increase their reading skills. Library time will be spent checking out books and reading as well as adding in reading games and literacy centers. Our students will not only learn reading skills but will also learn teamwork, patience, and how to play together. Research shows that elementary students learn by doing and that learning by play increases their social, cognitive, physical and emotional development.
