With COVID-19 and the shift to distance learning, our students missed out on the opportunity to collaborate with peers. One of my favorite parts of teaching Tech and leading our school’s Digital Media Team is instilling the love for creative expression in my students. We live in a world where so much media is CONSUMED, but I want my students to get out and CREATE!
By donating to this project, you will give my students a chance to collaborate and express themselves and their creativity through different mediums. In years past, we have been limited by the technology that is available to us. While I recognize that we are fortunate to have regular access to technology, some projects that I would like to do with my students are just not feasible because the processing power they require is just not available. My computer lab has computers that are going on 8 years old and are just unable to handle large video project files.
With the addition of the latest Mac Mini with the M1 Apple Silicon chip to our computer lab, my students will have the opportunity to learn how to edit pictures, plan, shoot and compile video footage, while applying these skills to creating the school yearbook as the culminating project each year.
