The seating supplies in which my students need will help them stay comfortable and active throughout the school day. They will be able to move freely throughout the room and choose among various seating choices in order to comfortably complete their school work. My students are fidgety, active, yet creative children who have a difficult time spending six hours in a desk and chair. The ability to have flexible seating options such as ball chairs, Wobble Chairs, and bean bags allows the more active, on the go learners to have a better chance at mastering the fourth grade curriculum. Allowing students to have a choice in where they sit creates less avoidance of school work due to an uncomfortable learning environment and creates more time to complete and focus on the tasks they are given. My students love the ability to choose and work much better with flexible options, including seating! It has been shown that flexible seating can not only improve the engagement of students, but it can also benefit them physically and academically. Yoga ball chairs provide students the ability to build core strength while keeping their brains active and engaged. Physical movement is directly linked to high academic performances, better health, and improved behavior throughout the school day. It's important for students to have ample seating choices available to them to increase their success in the classroom!
