Despite the collection of supplies that I have been collecting for my classroom this year, I still find there are basics that are missing from this collection. The schools in our system are under resourced and I would like to make sure my students have the essentials needed to start their year off on a great note! Second grade is an important year in which their reading levels can really improve. I want to make sure that the library is extensive enough in which students can have their own small personal collections of books to read during independent reading or when they have completed their work. As a first year teacher, my library is minimal. In addition to the library, this project also includes basic essentials for the classroom. These essentials include classroom sets of basic school supplies that students would need to complete our day-to-day activities and projects in the classroom. These supplies include scissors, glue, pencil sharpener, and a classroom rug for our meeting and whole group lessons.
