Listening skills are an important part of communication skills. Children need to focus on learning listening skills, even more so at the elementary level. It has been said that listening has three parts to it: (1) hearing the speaker, (2) understanding what the speaker is saying and (3) making a judgment based on that understanding. With a set of headphones, I could broaden my classroom listening and technology center. The listening center will allow stories to be read to my students and will get them "ready to read". As an elementary teacher, I know that listening is important to a child's development. With the use of a listening center used in conjunction with book and CD sets, my students could engage in a listening center to reinforce listening skills. You can help us by donating to this project so my students can have a wonderful listening center.
