Unfortunately one of the side effects of the emphasis on technology has been a decrease in concrete hands on labs. It is often cheaper and easier to do virtual labs which I think loses some of the mystery and visceral experience of experimentation. Exploring something natural, that does not require you to stare at some screen of an electronic device, has the ability to unlock the beauty of the imagination filled with curiosity and wonder. Getting your hands "dirty", so to speak, creates lasting impressions that, regrettably, do not happen as often as they used to. Dissecting these owl pellets will allow students to explore a wealth of information regarding biodiversity and biological adaptation.
