Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) room in Comstock, Michigan. A program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. Comstock is a small rural town in Kalamazoo county Michigan. The majority of the population in Comstock is living at or below the poverty level and all of the students in my classroom qualify for free breakfast and lunch. On top of living at or below the poverty level, many of the students have experienced some kind of trauma already in their four years of life. Every student that attends school in this school district receives free breakfast along with free lunch. The students in my classroom need an extra focus on how to appropriately manage their behaviors and feelings on top of being shown how to be in a school setting. This is all in addition to all of the other expectations in a regular preschool. All of these kids deserve a fair education.
