Before, we all made our own in tiny ice trays that were very difficult to get them out of. Now we can make a batch in about 5 minutes! The machine is being kept in a common area for all 66 students to benefit from.\r\n\r\nWe use the cool cubes to help escalated students regulate their body/emotions. In my room, if we see a student start to get angry or frustrated, we ask if they would like some cool cubes. They can sit at a table, on their cot or in the calm space to take a break with the cubes. Students can also approach a teacher at any time and ask for cool cubes. The students love them and it really seems to help with difficult behaviors. Thank you so much for allowing our building to be able to use this copping tool more efficiently.","fullyFundedDate":1753638298256,"projectUrl":"project/keep-cool/9445631/","projectTitle":"Keep Cool","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ross","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4558040_orig.jpg?crop=435,436,x0,y52&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1551887079161","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4558040"},{"teacherId":4558040,"projectId":9143589,"letterContent":"My students were so excited to receive these books! He enjoyed being in the art area a lot. One time when he became angry and I tried everything I could think of to help him. Then I asked if he wanted to draw. He said yes and spent the next 10 minutes making drawings for people. From then on, he could calm himself through art. He especially liked rubbing plate of a spider web. This was the first toy he used to initiate play with a peer for the first time! We cried happy tears. \r\n\r\nSeveral of the students really enjoyed using the color tubes and figuring out what two colors mixed together can make a new color.
