These materials will be used by 400 K-5 students in our school. There are countless ways to create artwork with so many supplies. I want to let my students use as many techniques as possible! The more variety they have, the more opportunities they have to express themselves through their artwork! Students will learn about illustration by using color sticks and markers to create landscape drawings. They will paint backgrounds with watercolor paint and print on top of those with fish to experience printmaking, spacing and depth of field. We will study many different types of painting. With the use of new brushes and tempera, acrylic and watercolor paint, students will create portraits, abstracts and also paint 3-D sculptures. Our students don't have many opportunities to create artwork outside of the classroom. These supplies will help fuel their creativity, enthusiasm and self expression.
