My students come from very low income, inner city homes. For many of them, they are fortunate to still be in school due to the obstacles that they face on a daily basis. They have difficulty affording extra curricular activities such as sports. But for most, sports is what gets these kids to school each day. Poverty does not prevent these students from being amazing, successful students. They work hard on the court and in the classroom. They volunteer and serve in their community to make their neighborhoods and local elementary schools better. These shirts will be purchased for these athletes to wear in pregame warm ups. They will bring pride and unity to a group of boys, who otherwise would have to do without. They will build team spirit and allow them to comfortably compete against teams whose school districts have overflowing sports budgets.
