My students are part of a diverse and tight knit community both within our building and outside of school. As I promote the early skills to embark on a college ready path to success, my kindergarten students are taught from day one that they are "learners today, leaders tomorrow." There are over 1,400 students in our school, and almost 20% of the school population are English language learners. In fact, the school translates notices and announcements in over 10 different languages! My young students ask questions, they are problem solvers, and bright thinkers who must work together despite language barriers, special needs, and challenges within home life to become a family of learners in my classroom.
