I love to use technology in my class. Our school district has a Bring Your Own Device policy, where students are allowed to have phones or tablets in class with them, only having them on and out when the teacher instructs. There are many online resources, such as Quizlet, Kahoot!, and Quizizz, that I love to use on a regular basis for instruction and review. The problem that arises is that many of my lower socioeconomic students do not have devices of their own. These tablets would help solve that problem. There are also many wonderful apps that I could use to make hands-on activities and science labs more interesting for my students. There is one app that I have used in the past where students take videos of a moving object, and, by using the distance it traveled and the time of the edited video, students are able to use the app to measure average speed. I would love to be able to use the tablets to improve the hands-on activities and labs that I do with my students. By having my own classroom tablets, I would be able to use technology more frequently, which I feel would make my lessons and labs more fun. We live in a technology-driven world, and my students' worlds center around their devices. I would love to be able to bring this into the classroom as often as possible.
