The items that I requested were chosen because these were things that I believed we needed to help students' daily classroom experience run more smoothly. Due to your generosity, my students have a more enhanced daily musical experience!\r\n\r\nThe binders and sheet protectors have drastically improved my students' organizational skills- something that was really a problem before these resources! The binders specifically were donated to students who I deemed were having trouble getting one on their own. The mouthpiece patches have drastically extended the life of my students' musical instruments, and have made the playing experience more comfortable for the students. The tuba stands have helped my younger musicians hold their instruments properly and more comfortably! The binding machine and hole punching machine have helped me to create nicer copies of the scores for the pieces that we are working on. And finally, the stickers and pencils have brought many smiles to my students, as I use these as small rewards when students are exemplifying excellence.\r\n\r\nAll in all, this was a much needed package for the Band program, and has positively impacted the students' learning and my ability to provide a quality music education experience. Your donation of crepe paper for making piñatas, candy to fill them, colorful cardstock, a laminating machine, and even brooms and dustpans for clean-up will help us create a vibrant, hands-on celebration that brings culture and language to life for our students.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our students will be able to design and build their own piñatas while practicing Spanish vocabulary and learning about traditions connected to Cinco de Mayo. The candy will make the celebration festive and exciting, while the colorful cardstock and laminating machine will allow us to create beautiful, lasting materials we can use throughout the year. Even the cleaning supplies will play an important role—helping students learn responsibility and teamwork as we care for our classroom space after the festivities.\r\n\r\nYour generosity truly makes a difference. I am writing to thank you for several of our wish-list supplies for our 7th Grade Civics classroom. I was fortunate to receive a whole set of brand-new scissors that fit middle-size hands. We use them to cut out facts and categorize them as a word sort with definition, picture, and sentence that matches the meaning. It is a hands-on way for the teacher to check quickly which students have mastered the concept and who needs to be pulled for small-group review with our co-teacher. This helps when the class is learning the powers of the three different branches of government. \r\n Next, we were given bright colored card stock to use for foldable slip books of difficult vocabulary words. Various colors are given to students with various levels of proficiency. This foldable booklet has flaps that can be cut and used in three different ways: 1) Creating their own booklet 2) Then using it when the teacher conducts a listening activity 3) Finally, the students are placed into groups of four and quiz each other on the meaning of the six new words. \r\n The giant magnets are immensely helpful when it comes to using giant fact posters and putting things in order like the steps for a bill to become a law. \r\n\r\nThank you so much to our Donors Choose heroes.","fullyFundedDate":1760776577078,"projectUrl":"project/magnetize-your-civics-vocabulary-word-so/9592286/","projectTitle":"Magnetize Your Civics Vocabulary Word Sort Analyzing Supreme Court Case","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. WILLS","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10175830"},{"teacherId":10177152,"projectId":9595623,"letterContent":"Your generosity has had an incredibly positive impact on my classroom. Because of your support, I was able to purchase supplies to create standards-based learning games that allow students to engage with content in a truly fun and meaningful way. They are learning and often don't even realize it.\r\nOne wonderful, unexpected outcome has been the way these games have strengthened our classroom community. Students genuinely enjoy playing together and develop a level of comfort and collaboration that might not have happened otherwise. This sense of connection carries over into other classroom activities and improves how students work together overall.\r\nStudents have also created their own games to review literary elements and practice logical reasoning. Watching their creativity come to life was an absolute joy. Now, they regularly ask for \"game time,\" which I'm always happy to give because I can see how effective it is.\r\nThis was my first DonorsChoose project, and quite frankly, I wasn't sure whether it would be funded. The fact that it was—largely by people I've never met—is truly inspiring. We've been using the supplies during hands-on activities where students analyze historical ideas, collaborate in small groups, and create visual representations of their learning. One especially meaningful moment was watching students use the materials to build comparison charts and mini-projects that helped them better understand complex concepts—ideas that can sometimes feel abstract suddenly became tangible and engaging.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and genuine. There were smiles, curious questions, and an eagerness to get started right away. From the four projects we have already worked on, the \"Mummification Process\" was a hit. They got to learn about the Egyptians' beliefs in the afterlife while learning how to preserve/mummify a body (mannequin). This was a fun way to teach this was a breakthrough in science at the time. Several students commented on how the supplies made them feel \"like real scholars\" and how much more fun learning felt with tools designed just for them. That enthusiasm carried into our lessons, increasing participation and confidence, especially for students who sometimes hesitate to speak up.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps involve diving even deeper into our current lessons through extended projects and reflective activities. We still have three more projects to work on throughout therest of the schools year. Students will be using these resources to revise their thinking, create final products to demonstrate their understanding, and engage in discussions that connect past ideas to the present. The wrap was used to examine how exactly the Egyptians mummified their key figures, and the chalk was used to create beautiful Diwali designs around the school that brightened up everyone's day.
