I give the kids a little homework every night. However, the kids don't have scissors, glue sticks, or any other materials with which to do the work. The homework reinforces what they did in class that day. My students need supplies that will be used to help them learn to read. I have an excellent program to use that really helps the students that are struggling to read. However, not all the materials to run the program are supplied. I need things like whiteboards/markers, magnetic letters, and rings to hold vocabulary words. It is amazing the impact these simple materials can have.
